We are the first point of contact at KIT for those interested in studying and those already studying at KIT concerning all questions regarding your current or future studies. It doesn't matter what your concerns and questions are, our well-trained advisors will always offer a sympathetic ear and make time for you. If your concerns are not directly a part of our portfolio, we can still offer help in guiding you through the so-called jungle of advisory and guidance offers at KIT and beyond.

In working with you, it is of great importance to us to strengthen and boost your self-competence. It is of equal importance to us to help and support you in matters concerning examination and admission law as well as the related administrative processes at KIT by use of our vast knowledge and experience. We put great emphasis on our professionalism, thus our advisors regularly attend advanced training courses.

We are your first stop if you are not sure yet what you want to study or if you even want to. We can teach you different methods to facilitate and boost your own decision-making processes and offer information about contents of study programs as well as the different types of institutions of higher education.
Application and admission
We offer information about the application procedures for your study program, about deadlines and selection processes, for both bachelor's and master's programs.
Study preparation and start
We offer information about the challenges of studying and can show you how you can successfully start your studies at KIT with the help of prepatory courses, orientation week, mentoring programs and other miscellaneous offers.
Studying at KIT offers a wide variety of choices, but also challenges. It doesn't matter if you're about to start your bachelor's studies or are coming to KIT for your master's, we will help you arrive here and organize your studies. Topics are e.g. studying abroad, planning your studies, living, financing, and many more.
Questions about examination law
Due to our regular exchange with the KIT-Departments and our resident lawyers for university law and academic affairs, we are able to give you binding information on aspects of examination law, such as additional credit accomplishments, prior master's transfer account, repeat exam, extensions of deadlines and consequences of loss of examination entitlement.
Doubts and crises while studying
You're worrying about your choice of studies? You are discouraged by poor accomplishments? You can't find your work-life-balance anymore? In order not to jeopardize your studies, you should look for help early on. Even if you had these problems for quite some time already, we will work out all possible options with you to bring your studies back on track. We'll get to the bottom of things together and work on a solution.
Change of program / university
You should think twice about a change of program or university. We will help you come to a decision and offer information about all necessary administrative steps. We are also your point of contact if you want to come to KIT for your master's studies.
Compatibility of studies and family
You are pregnant, expecting father or you already have children? You are caring for your care-dependent parents? We can advise you on how to cope with these challenges in addition to your studies. We can also help with reporting your pregnancy and other regulations.
You can contact our infopoint during our business hours via phone or visit us in person. For larger concerns, you can take advantage of one-on-one counseling with our advisors either in person, via Zoom or by phone. You just need to book an appointment:

For prospective students
You would like to study, but feel like you can't see the forest for the trees? A thorough orientation is the first step to successful studying. That's why we offer you support during this process. In our workshops, you will learn how to organize and maintain your own decision-making process. In our information sessions about the different study programs, you can learn about contents, challenges, application processes and career prospects. We even have an event for your parents so they are able to support you the best possible way.
Information sessions: „Studium am KIT“ (studying at KIT) for a general overview, sessions for individual study programs and real talks with students (all events are held in German)
Workshops: „Was will ich studieren?“ (what do I want to study?), „Hilfe, jetzt muss ich mich entscheiden!“ (Help! I need to decide now!) and „Abitur und was dann?“ (Abitur and what after?) for your own personal orientation (all events are held in German)
Campus tours: walk & talk with an advisor and students to get to know the campus and ask all your questions concerning studying at KIT - with or without a short presentation „Studium am KIT“ (studying at KIT; all events are held in German)
We give advise and support during all phases of studies with a variety of events for topics that concern students the most. At the start of your studies, we offer different formats that help you arrive at KIT. Did the beginning or the first semesters of your studies not go as planned and expected? Are you troubled by doubts? Are you threatened by the loss of your exam entitlement? You are studying at KIT and want to know just how exactly the prior master's transfer account works or how you can obtain missing credits according to the admission criteria for a maste'sr program outside of the subject area of your bachelor's program? You have completed your bachelor's degree at another university and are looking for possibilities to make up for missing credits needed for admission to our master's programs? - Information sessions: At the beginning of your studies „Erfolgreich studieren“ (study successfully) and „Fit durchs 1. Semester“ (fit through your 1st semeter), during your studies „Aus und vorbei? – Endgültig nicht bestanden, was nun?“ (over and out? - permanent loss of exam entitlement, now what?) , „Für den Master ans KIT?“ (going for a Master at KIT) or „Vom Bachelor in den Master für KIT-Studierende“ (from bachelor to master for KIT students) (most events are held in German; English events are marked accordingly in the event calendar)
- Workshops: if you have doubts concenring your studies, e.g. „Auf dem falschen Dampfer?“ (on the wrong track) and „Zurück auf Start“ (back to start) (all events are held in German)
Our customized on-campus programs offer school groups grades 9 and up a special insight into studying. Based on the main interests of the participants and the accompanying teachers, groups can choose from a variety of study-oriented information sessions and workshops. In addition, participants have the opportunity to attend "real" lectures or explore the campus on a guided tour.

- Presentations: depending on your interests, e.g. "Ausbildung oder Studium?" (apprenticeship or studying?), "Welche Studiengänge bietet das KIT?" (which study programs does the KIT offer?), "Wie treffe ich die richtige Studienentscheidung?" (how do I choose the right study program for me?) or even "Bewerbung und Zulassung am KIT" (application and admission at KIT) (events are held predominantly in German; selected English lectures subject to availability).
- Workshops: customized workshops for study orientation as well as BEST seminars at school or in the offices of the Zentrale Studienberatung (ZSB) (these events are solely available in German)
- Campus tours: our tours point out the most important places on campus such as the dining hall, main auditorium (Audimax) and our 24-hrs library. During the tour, we are happy to answer any questions about studying. (tours are held predominantly in German; English tours subject to availability)
