Higher education entrance qualification (allgemeine Hochschulreife)

The "Abitur", a higher education entrance qualification diploma (allgemeine Hochschulreife), serves as qualification for entrance to a university degree program. Persons holding a "Abitur" are entitled to study any and all degree programs at a university of another institutions of higher education. Persons holding a subject-linked university entrance qualification (fachgebundene Hochschulreife) can only study select degree programs at KIT.

Admission for professionals

Professionally qualified persons without a higher education entrance qualification but who successfully completed advanced training in their profession can be admitted into a degree program in Baden-Wuerttemberg. Persons holding a master's certificate under the apprenticeship system or equivalent thereof, can be admitted into university. As of winter term 2010/11, persons holding a master's certificate or equivalent thereof are thus considered equal to persons holding a higher education entrance qualification.
