Are you active in elite sports and want to study successfully at the same time? To help you master this dual challenge, KIT, which has been a partner university of elite sports since 2003, offers you tailored support in all phases of your studies, starting with your application.
KIT reserves 1% of the available study places in admission-restricted degree programs for applicants who are particularly worthy of consideration or support in the public interest. Therefore, if you would like to apply for a degree program with restricted admission and are bound to the study location Karlsruhe for verifiable reasons, you should inform yourself at an early stage about your possibility of preferential admission due to local ties in the public interest. The corresponding Statutes of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) on the selection of applicants according to local ties in the public interest contains all the important details.
If you are eligible for preferential admission, you can submit your application directly in the KIT application portal. Select the preferred admission option under special applications and upload the required documents. If you have any questions, please contact the Student Advisory Services. We will be happy to help you.
The contact at KIT partner university of elite sports apl. Prof. Dr. Swantje Scharenberg - located at the Institute of Sports and Sports Science - will advise you as project coordinator on how to best reconcile the specific requirements of your degree program with your sporting commitments.
The support you receive from Prof. Scharenberg is based on continuous and intensive cooperation with the Olympic training centers in the region (Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region, Freiburg-Schwarzwald, Stuttgart). While the career counselors at the bases primarily represent the athletic interests of the athletes, the contact at KIT supports you by taking on coordinating and, if necessary, mediating tasks. This makes it easier for you to combine your studies and elite sports.
Whether you can take advantage of the support via the partner university of elite sports and what conditions are associated with this is contractually regulated between the DOSB (German Olympic Sports Confederation), the adh (Allgemeiner Deutscher Hochschulsportverband), the Olympic training centers and the KIT - the Studierendenwerk is also involved here. This transparent agreement defines the rights and obligations of all partners.
