Students who wish to continue their studies at KIT need to re-register every semester.

Re-registration happens in theCampus Management Portal (Studierendenportal).

Re-registration periods:

for summer term: January 15 to February 15
for winter term: July 1 to August 15

If a SEPA mandate is issued and SEPA direct debit authorized during the re-registration period,  withdrawal of the semester fee will happen automatically. Please make sure your bank account is sufficiently covered! Should you wish to wiretransfer the money, please note that according to  §13 par. 1 of the admission and enrollment regulations the day of receipt of payment at KIT is decisive, not the day when the wiretransfer was made.

Every re-registration requires payment of the semester fee anew.

Please note that it can take up to one week from withdrawal of funds from your bank account up to reciept of payment at the Studierendenservice of KIT. After reciept of payment, re-registration happens automatically should there be no other impediments.

Students who do not pay after being issued an overdue letter with an extended deadline, will be de-registered ex officio. Please consider the provisions in the admission and enrollment regulations.

Please note that in case of late re-registration, KIT charges a 15€ late fee according to §2 of "Satzung über die Erhebung von Gebühren für das Gasthörer‐Studium und sonstige studienbezogene Dienstleistungen".


Advice for bachelor students at KIT who wish to resume their studies in a master's program

Should you not have completed your bachelor's studies at the time of application for master's program, we advise you re-register via theCampus Management Portal (Studierendenportal) for another semester in your bachelor's program in order to keep your student status. In case of late re-registration, a late fee of 15€ will be charged. Should you be accepted into the master's program after expiration of the re-registration deadline, please pay the semester fee according to the notification of charges that you received with your acceptance letter.

Based on experience, decisions about acceptance are usually made 3 to 4 weeks after the end of the admission deadline at the earliest. Acceptance letters will thus be issued after the end of the re-registration deadline.

A second payment of the semester fee as listed in the notification of charges (part of your acceptance letter) is not needed if you have already re-registered as a bachelor student.

Should not enroll into a master's program at KIT but have already re-registered for the next semester, you need to fill out the application for de-registration PDF before the end of the last semester in your bachelor's programm (March 31 / September 30). Dating de-registration to a date in the past is not possible! De-registration is realized at the end of the semester or upon request immediately should there be important reasons.
