This study program is concerned with European culture from the perspectives of history and philosophy. Students gain an in-depth understanding of the factors that brought about European culture as a civilization shaped by science, technology and, at the same time, by high ethical standards. In addition, factors related to the history of ideas and socio-cultural change that contributed to the developmental history of modern European democracies are taken into consideration. Particular attention will be given to the methodological skills required to investigate these topics according to academic standards. Thus, students will also acquire skills for occupations demanding not only a thorough knowledge of European culture and its history, but also analytical, reflective, argumentative and communicative competences.
