Studienaufbau

Variante A, anorganisch/organisch: Fortgeschrittenenausbildung in zwei Fächern, wahlweise

  • Anorganische Chemie
  • Organische Chemie
  • Physikalische Chemie
  • Angewandte Chemie
  • Biochemie
  • Theoretische Chemie
  • Radiochemie

Variante C, technisch-anwendungsorientiert: Fortgeschrittenenausbildung in zwei Fächern, wahlweise

  • Anorganische Chemie
  • Organische Chemie
  • Physikalische Chemie

The graduates of the Master's degree in Chemistry
  • have acquired additional and expanded knowledge on the basis of the Bachelor's degree. They thus have deepened chemical expertise and greater certainty in their theoretical and practical application so that they can also scientifically describe, analyze, evaluate and successfully solve complex problems and tasks in chemistry.
  • have in-depth knowledge of modern theoretical and experimental chemical methods and have the ability to design, plan and independently carry out experimental investigations. They are able to interpret the results obtained and draw conclusions from them.
  • have acquired profound knowledge in a selected subject (a core chemical discipline or a cross-section).
  • have a responsible and independent scientific approach which has enabled them to work independently in a scientific environment on a completed research area.
  • are capable of successfully using the acquired scientific and mathematical knowledge and skills to formulate and solve complex tasks in research and development in industry, universities or other research facilities, to critically question them and, if necessary, further develop them. They are able to identify and procure the information needed to solve the problem.
  • can develop concepts and solutions for fundamental-oriented questions with the broad involvement of other, especially related, disciplines. They can use their knowledge, skills, creativity and scientific judgment to develop new knowledge, products and processes.
  • are able to process and communicate concepts, procedures and results in the team. They are able to familiarize themselves with the specialist language, the technical terms and the expression of related fields and can communicate and collaborate with specialists from different chemical fields and other natural sciences and engineering sciences.
  • are trained with the required breadth and depth to be able to quickly familiarize themselves with future technologies and work areas of their own field of research and with developing peripheral areas.
  • have acquired extra-ordinary qualifications and are thus prepared for the non-specific requirements of a professional activity.
  • have a deep understanding of the applications of chemical compounds and materials and processes in different fields of work, are aware of the limitations and dangers involved, and can use their knowledge responsibly, taking into account safety, ecological and economic requirements. In the company, they can actively shape the opinion-forming process with regard to scientific questions.
  • acquire the scientific qualification for a doctorate.

Excerpt from the diploma supplement of the study program

  • Forschungsorientierte Lehre
  • Einbindung der Studierenden in aktuelle Forschungsprojekte
  • Hoher Anteil an Laborpraktika
  • Drei verschiedene Studienrichtungen
  • Breites Lehrangebot, zahlreiche Vertiefungsmöglichkeiten
  • Einbindung in den Universitätsverbund EUCOR ermöglicht Teilnahme an Lehrveranstaltungen der Universitäten Freiburg, Basel, Straßburg, Colmar und Mulhouse
  • Großes Angebot an Hochschulgruppen
  • Möglichkeit von Nebenjobs an wissenschaftlichen Instituten/Laboren
  • Vielfältige Promotionsmöglichkeiten nach dem Masterabschluss

Zugangsvoraussetzungen

Knowledge of the German language for foreign nationals

In order to be accepted into a study program taught in German, foreign nationals need to demonstrate knowledge of the German language. For your application, you need to demonstrate knowledge of level B1. All such certificates are accepted, even a certificate of attendance of a B1 course. During the enrollment process, you need to submit a DSH2 certificate or an accepted equivalent thereof. If you have further questions, please contact the International Students Office.
