Details About Bachelor's Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering (International)

Degree and Duration

Regular duration of studies is 6 terms. After completion of the program, the "Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)" degree will be awarded.

Study Topics and Content

The program teaches primarily the principles of engineering, as well as fundamentals in physics and mathematics. In higher semesters, specialization is possible by choosing a certain elective subject.

Generally binding topics are:

  • Advanced Mathematics
  • Engineering Mechanics
  • Manufacturing Processes
  • Materials Science
  • Thermodynmics
  • Fluid Mechanics
  • Physics
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Measurement and Regulation Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Machine Dynamics
  • Machines and Processes
  • Operational Production Management

Selectable specializations are:

  • Global Production Management
  • Energy Engineering
  • Automotive Engineering

Language Prerequisites

Mechanical Engineering (International) is aimed predominantly at international students. The majority of places to study in this program is reserved for such students. The study program is taught solely in English. Accepted proofs of language skills are e.g. TOEFL (250/88) or Cambridge Proficiency (see "Zulassungssatzung"  / admission regulations). Proof of German language skills is not necessary.

Application and Admission

Admission for beginners is only possible for the winter term. The application deadline is April 30 of each year. Prerequisites for admission to the program is a recognized university entrance certificate (equal to the German Abitur) as well as a SAT test with a score of at least 1,200. In addition, a letter of motivation needs to be included. If there are more applicants than study places, a selection process will take place. In such a case, a ranking score will be calculated on SAT score, grades in mathematics and physics, letter of motivation and additional extra-curricular activies (see "Zulassungssatzung"  / admission regulations).
