Degree and duration

Regular program length of 2 years leading to a "Master of Science (M.Sc.)" degree; 120 credit points (corresponding to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System - ECTS) must be completed. Individual prorgram length may differ from regular program length.

Program structure

The master's degree program has a regular progam length of four semester. One semester is dedicated to the master's thesis. After graduation (degree Master of Science), one can continue post-graduate studies and a PhD should coursework and achievements be graded above average.

Areas of specialization:

  • Signal processing
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Electric mobility
  • Control systems
  • Electrical drives and power electronics
  • Adaptronic
  • Information and automation
  • Electric energy systems and high voltage engineering
  • Optical technologies
  • High frequency engineering
  • Optical communications engineering
  • Systems engineering
  • Information systems
  • Micro- and nanoelectronics
  • Communications engineering
  • Information and communication
  • Regenerative energies
  • Equipment systems in aeronautics
  • (Specialized study modell)
  • System-on-Chip
  • Mico-, nano. and optoelectronics
  • Electrical energy systems and energy management

The master’s degree program serves to further enhance or complement the scientific qualifications acquired during bachelor’s studies. The graduates are able to independently apply scientific findings and methods and to assess their significance and scope for the solution of complex scientific and social problems.

Graduates of the master's program are qualified for a responsible position in industry, technical services and academics. They are able to upgrade their qualifications by continuing with a doctorate should their qualifications be sufficient and or they can take on a sophisticated occupation in the industry.

A multitude of different sectors are open to graduates of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology: industry automation, robotics, measurement engineering, medical engineering, aerospace engineering, automotive engineering, energy engineering, electronic systems in buildings, logistics, traffic engineering, optical technologies and many more. Engineering activities range from the typical product development and planning, project planning, implementing and technical support to managerial functions, distribution and consulting. A lot of graduates set up their own businesses.

Admission requirements

Proof of eligibility for this degree program is an above-average bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology or in a related field which contains the following:

  • Mathematics I and II, which contain complex analysis and integral transforms
  • System dynamics and control systems engineering
  • Signals and systems
  • Physics I and II or alternaticely technical mechanics I to III
  • Linear electrical networks
  • Electronic circuits
  • Electric fields and waves
  • Internship in the field of electrical engineering
  • Digital technology
  • Information technology
  • Internship in the field of information technology

A maximum of three of above-mentioned coursework may be missing and must, if required, be completed in the master's program. Are there more applicants then study places, a ranking list will be formed according to completed coursework and additional curricular, extra-curricular and vocational achievements.

German language skills for international applicants
